Hepatitis A infection is rarely fatal, with symptoms taking up to two weeks to develop. The severity of the symptoms can vary from mild to severe. with signs and symptoms ranging from flu like symptoms such as fever and fatigue as well as abdominal pain, nausea, loss of appetite and jaundice.

Hepatitis A occurs worldwide but is most commonly found in areas of Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

Hepatitis A is a vaccine-preventable disease.The vaccine is an inactivated vaccine containing viral antigens and 2 doses are required to provide optimal protection, lasting for 10 to 15 years.
